“Why are you working on my hips when it’s my (insert any other body part here)?”

This is a common conversation I have with my patients, especially those new to the world of Myofascial Release.

Headaches? I’m going to check your pelvis.

Neck pain? I’m going to check your pelvis.

TMJ pain? I’m going to check your pelvis.

Back pain? I’m going to check your pelvis.

Regardless of your pain complaint, I always look to the pelvis! For the moment, think of yourself like a car 🚗…if your car is out of alignment, your brakes and tires will wear out differently from each other. A trustworthy mechanic will FIRST tell you to prioritize your car’s alignment before spending money on brakes and tires.

Of course I will work on your areas of tenderness and pain but if our goal is to achieve true and lasting improvement, pelvic alignment is key!
