When should I stretch? Morning? Afternoon? Before or after working out?



The truth is, most of us do not regularly stretch which is why pairing it with something we already do (referred to as “habit pairing”) is really the best way to integrate a regular self-care stretching practice. For some of us that’s brushing our teeth in the morning. For others it might be after their morning walk with the dog. It really is dependent on the person.


In addition to stretching at the moment I feel I need it, I personally pair my regular stretching with my twice-weekly yoga classes. I purposely arrive 20 – 30 minutes early just to give myself space and time to indulge in the stretches that feel right for me that day. That works for me.
